Purple Vigilance Limited is a Pharmacovigilance consultancy based in Hertfordshire that was established in 2011.  The company was set-up by the Director, Ruth Casserley (nee Wilding), who has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 27 years. She worked in various roles but realised that with her keen eye for detail and interest in patient safety she was well suited to a career in Pharmacovigilance.

In 2001 she established the Pharmacovigilance and Medical Information department at a new generic company.  During the next 10 years she managed and developed the department and was the EU QPPV for the company.  She successfully implemented a safety database and in addition gained invaluable hands-on experience in many aspects of post authorisation Pharmacovigilance, ensuring that all systems remained compliant with the changing legislation.

After 10 years in this role, Ruth decided to take on a new challenge and Purple Vigilance was born.

The aim of Purple Vigilance is to ensure patient safety, whilst maintaining compliance with legislative requirements. We aim to provide high quality and cost-effective solutions, to support the requirements of companies of all sizes.

The company’s current assignments include provision of Deputy EU QPPV services to a large generic Marketing Authorisation Holder and provision of regular Pharmacovigilance support to several Contract Research Organisations. Past assignments include preparing PSMFs, preparing a suite of Pharmacovigilance SOPs, training client staff on preparation and scheduling of PSURs, and presenting an update on the new Pharmacovigilance legislation to a client’s safety team.

Process audits conducted to-date include post-marketing case processing, PBRERs and DSURs, oversight of Pharmacovigilance partners, interaction between medical information and Pharmacovigilance.
